My pictures I use principally just as bigger editions of themselves. Since they telescope out and give huge detail (you can even hit them twice to really get close), they fill the pictoral bill for me well. I have begun using Google reader, yes, but not yet on the Ninja. I move slow on new stuff, lol. I'm a dirt guy.

Thanks Steve,
I will check back often and add you to my blogroll.
Could I ask if you have a strategy for getting backlinks from your pictures? I noticed your url attaches to your photos. Also have you heard about google reader ninja?

Steve, your "trackback" is there, in your name. I hit your name and it takes me to your website, perfectly. You did everything right.

Thanks, it is a nice name. I saw the rest of the pictures relating to this project. I tried to set up a trackback and thought a copy of your response would be placed at my blog. I am new to blogging. Am I misunderstanding what a trackback should do?

Can I tell, Steve? Love your name, by the way! ;-)

That stone i watched being placed. I worked on the construction of the Chinese Garden in Portland, as one of the few non Chinese on the project. We were in charge of the irrigation, the placing of the soil itself and all of the plantings. A Union business in Portland did all the concrete work for the footings, the original excavations and even completed the lake bottom by themselves, in Bentonite. The Chinese did 100% of the bridges, the architecture, all of the Granite work - and it is hugely substantial - all of it pre-manufactured to spec in China. The rocks all come from the same Province in China as Zuchou - the famous city of gardens and canals. If you check out my "categories" section, you can read more about the construction process. Quite the rock, eh?

I am not sure you can find that rock in the US. I have seen some outrageous rocks in my day in my travels, but that one seems to be uniquely Chinese.

Could anyone tell me anything about the stone Steve refered to as "stone that challanges"? Perhaps you could include what part of the country it comes from or where I might find some.

I really like the biomorphic boulders that wander their way into the patio space. It makes it seem as if they were there first (which in a sense they were, if not in that spot). And the slanted ones in the last photo that look like basalt pillars--wow!

Thanks, Mike. We bored and attached angle iron to those boulders, then cemented them in place, long before the gunnited pool was made.
